WOLF WEEKLY

June 2, 2024

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-

Congratulations, we’ve made it to the final week of the 2023-24 school year!!!

SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM

Good afternoon LRMS families!  PWCS Nutrition will be offering a summer a food service program to include FREE breakfast and lunch, Monday - Friday for children 18 years of age or younger.  Please check out the attached chart for the closest school to your home.

Additionally, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service is offering summer grocery benefits for kids - SUN Bucks.  SUN Bucks is a new grocery benefit available across most of the U.S.  Families with eligible school-aged children can get $120 per child to buy groceries during the summer.  SUN Bucks may have a different name depending on your location.  Families can receive SUN Bucks on top of other benefits like SNAP and WIC, and children can continue to enjoy free SUN Meals from local meal sites or with SUN Meals To-Go.  Please refer to USDA SUN Bucks for more information and to find out if you're already enroll or how to enroll in SUN Bucks!

If you have any questions or need additional community resource assistance, please contact Pamela Sweeney, LRMS School Social Worker at [email protected].

MEDICATION PICKUP

Parents/Guardians need to come and pick up all medications that are in the school clinic this week.  You can pick up, with the nurse, from 8-3 Monday-Thursday and until 12:00 on Friday.  Any medications not picked up by 12:00 on Friday, will be destroyed.  We cannot hold any medications for next year and students cannot transport the medications themselves.  If your student is participating in Summer School, please contact Mrs. Camacho to arrange for those medications to remain at the school.

Indicate Need for Bus Transportation Beginning June 3

Help PWCS create more efficient bus routes and improve on-time service. Beginning June 3, parents are requested to log in to ParentVUE and indicate their student's need for bus transportation for the 2024-25 school year. *If your circumstances change and you require transportation, we ask you to contact your child's school to ensure the information is up to date within ParentVUE.  Learn more >>

Upcoming End of Year Dates

Below is a list of tentative dates for end of year events.

  • June 3 – 8th Grade Grill on the Hill
  • June 5 – Fun Day
  • June 6 – Fun Day (Rain day if needed)
  • June 7 – Last Day of School – 1/2 day for students

 Participation in Fun Day Activities

As we begin the 4th marking period, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining momentum and continuing to work hard, make good decisions, and stay focused on our goals. One goal would be to attend our FUN DAY scheduled for June 5th.  This will be a day filled with laughter, games, and camaraderie. It’s a time for our students to unwind, celebrate their achievements, and create lasting memories.

Eligibility for attendance-

Academic Standing: To participate in Fun Day, students must maintain academic eligibility. Specifically:

    • No student can have two or more F’s in their classes during the fourth quarter.
    • Consistent effort and commitment to learning are essential.

Behavioral Expectations:

    • Students cannot have any major referrals resulting in out-of-school suspensions during the fourth quarter.
    • Additionally, they must avoid accumulating three or more total referrals leading to after-school detentions or Saturday school.

 Library Standing:

    • Students must be in good standing with the library. This means no outstanding fines or overdue books.

All participation is at the discretion of the administrators.  Ineligible students and families will be notified on Friday, May 31st through email.

End of Year Device Collection

End of the year device collection concludes this week with our 7th grade students turning in their devices, power cables, and laptop sleeves.  If your student missed turning their device in last week, they can turn it in Monday or Tuesday.  Any student who hasn’t returned their device, is ineligible to participate in Fun Day on Wednesday (unless they are taking Summer School).

Any student missing their PWCS asset tag or with damage to their device should submit a help ticket. Below is a list of common damages and their cost if you did not purchase insurance at the beginning of the school year:

  • LCD - $44.99
  • Digitizer - $73.31
  • Missing keys/Keyboard - $151
  • Touchpad + keyboard - $178
  • Broken Hinge/Total device replacement - $403
  • Missing laptop sleeve - $20
  • Missing charger - $25
    • If students have lost their charger, it can be paid in exact cash or checks made out to LRMS. If a student has insurance, parents can fill out an affidavit (attached) about this missing charger, skipping the police report section.

Monday will be an “A” day.
