LRMS Retake Policy
The student's report card grade should be a reflection of what the student knows and is able to do as measured during each reporting quarter. At Lake Ridge Middle School, we teach with the goal of student mastery for all students. Reporting dates are determined at the division level. At LRMS we believe in re-teaching and re-testing to allow students to master required curriculum objectives. Students should always go into their first test well prepared, however, if results indicate that the student has not mastered the content, students can do additional work and put in additional time to earn the opportunity to re-test.
LRMS in conjunction with the PWCS grading regulation will collaborate with students on re-assessment opportunities. Students will have a two-week window to re-test summative assessments from the date of the posted grade. Teachers have the autonomy to reassess specific objectives outside of this window through spiral reviews, benchmark tests, verbal quiz, etc. Formative Assignments should be completed as evidence in order to retake. The student will have seven calendar days from the date assessment grade is posted to complete all formative work to prepare for the retake. Formative assignments will not be able to be made up outside of this window.
EXAMPLE:
- Summative Assessment Date Posted: October 4th
- Formative Assignment Deadline: October 11th
- Summative Retake/test Deadline: October 18th
