Hello Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians –

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

Students who are staying at Lake Ridge for after-school clubs, tutoring/testing, and activities need to report right to the club sponsor or teacher after all busses have been dismissed.  We are noticing an increase in students leaving the building to socialize and then returning to the building to meet with their teacher or club.  We need to account for students staying after school for clubs and activities and therefore we need students to report right to their club/activity.

KISS & RIDE

We’d like to remind parents about the proper way to enter and exit the kiss & ride line in the mornings and afternoons. If you are driving your student(s) to school, please enter in from the 2nd entrance to the school which is located by the football field. Once you pull in, and come to a complete stop, please drop your student off; having them walk a little bit is a great way to get the blood flowing and their mind awake before school. By doing this, you help to move the traffic in and out of the school in a quick and efficient manner. If you wait until you pull up to the front door, traffic gets backed up both ways on Mohican Rd. Parents should not be dropping students off in the large upper parking lot. The entrance next to the electronic marquee is for busses and staff only. As always, please allow extra time and drive cautiously in the parking lot.

ACTIVITY BUSES

We now have Activity Buses available on Tuesdays and Thursdays to transport students who stay after school for tutoring, clubs, etc.  The buses will depart from LRMS at approximately 4:30 each afternoon.  Bus stop locations have been shared with staff and they can assist students in finding the closest stop to their home.  Please make sure your student knows their home address so we can assist them.  PWCS policy does not allow us to publish the bus stop locations in this newsletter or on our website.  Please note that the activity bus stops are not necessarily the same as the regular every day bus stop.

IMPACT AID FORMS DUE

We’d like ot remind you that the Impact Aid Packets are due, in ParentVue, by December 16.  This federal program provides PWCS with significant funding for students whose parents/guardians are military-connected or work on federal property in Virginia.  Once logged into ParentVue, select Online Records on the top of the screen and select the Impact Aid Packet from the dropdown menu.

NO-BAG POLICY FOR ALL INDOOR EVENTS

PWCS enacted a no-bag policy for all indoor events (athletics, music concerts, plays, etc.) at the middle school level. This is in alignment with the policy currently in place at all high schools. This includes backpacks, purses, camera equipment bags, etc.

Small wallet-sized clutch bags, clear diaper bags, and medically necessary bags are permitted. These bags may be subject to search. This policy went into effect for indoor events at all middle schools on Monday, January 10, 2022. Our school will have a plan in place to secure any bookbags, for participating students, as needed during events. We will not be responsible for securing bags from any attendees.  You will be asked to leave your bag in your car or take it home. Signage will be posted to remind attendees prior to arriving at the ticket area. We thank you in advance for adhering to this policy and look forward to having you with us to cheer on our students.

Please remind any guests, who do not receive the Wolf Weekly, about this policy before they arrive to any event(s).

Monday is an “A” day
