FOOD DRIVE
With the fall season now here, that means Thanksgiving is just around the corner. The ACTS Hunger Prevention Center is seeking our help in donating food items to ensure every family has a meal to share on this special holiday. They rely heavily upon donations to make it happen.
Last year, donations to ACTS provided the fixings for over 1000 families to prepare Thanksgiving meals. They are anticipating that number, or more, again this year.

Please see the attached flyer for information about needed items. We will have a box at the
school inside Door 1 or items can be dropped off at the ACTS Hunger Prevention Center located
at 17958 Dr. David Cline Lane in Dumfries.

PRINCE WILLIAM WRESTLING CLUB
If your son or daughter has expressed interest in wrestling or wanting to start a new sport, come
check out Prince William Wrestling Club. Sessions will start October 17th at 6:30 p.m. in Forest Park High School’s Auxiliary Gym. No experience is needed. See the attached flyer for more information.

GRADING POLICY
As we approach the end of the first marking period, I’d like to remind you of the retake policy.
LRMS, in conjunction with the PWCS grading regulation will collaborate with students on reassessment opportunities. Students will have a two-week window to re-test summative assessments from the date of the posted grade. Teachers have the autonomy to reassess specific objectives outside of this window through spiral reviews, benchmark tests, verbal quiz, etc. Formative Assignments should be completed as evidence in order to retake. The student will have seven calendar days from the date assessment grade is posted to complete all formative work to prepare for the retake. Formative assignments will not be able to be made up outside of this window.

EXAMPLE:
Summative Assessment Date Posted: October 4th
Formative Assessment Deadline: October 11th
Summative Retake/test Deadline: October 18th
