Hello Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians – As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, September 26th in celebration of Rosh Hashanah.

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB
The Creative Writing Club will be holding its first interest meeting on Friday, September 30th in room 1423 from 3:00 – 4:15 p.m. Please have a ride available for pickup at 4:15 p.m.


FREE ONLINE TUTORING
PWCS Students now have access to free, unlimited online tutoring through a new partnership with Paper. Students can get help with their homework, receive feedback on their writing assignments, or ask questions about any academic subject. Tutors are currently available 24/7 to help students in English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin. See the attached flyer for more info.


WELLNESS FAIR
The PWCS Wellness Committee is pleased to invite you to our first annual Wellness Fair, scheduled to be held at Potomac Shores Middle School on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Committee members established strong partnerships with local business and health/wellness organizations that strive to provide services to students in an effort to support their social, emotional, familial, and academic well-being. Our goal is to continue connecting students and families to a wide range of positive supportive services that will ensure families are able to foster long-lasting and trusting relationships with PWCS staff and beyond. DRAMA CLUB

Ms. Couchman is accepting applications for drama club until September 29th. Drama club will focus on performance and will have performance opportunities throughout the year. Drop off applications in room 1516. Please reach out to Ms. Couchman at [email protected] if you have any questions.

HIGH SCHOOL SPECIALTY PROGRAMS
Prince William County Public Schools is pleased to provide a wide range of high school program opportunities for our students. Students may participate in the comprehensive program at their base high school, apply for the specialty program at their base high school, or apply to transfer to another high school for a specialty program.
Students may also apply to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, The Governor's School @ Innovation Park, and the Summer Residential Governor's School Program. We hope you will consider the wide range of choices available to Prince William County students.

Information Sessions
Specialty Program information nights are held in October and offer an overview of each program and the application process. Program specific information nights are held at each high school.

WOLFPACK ADVISORY COUNCIL
Are you interested in joining our Wolfpack Advisory Council?

Our Wolfpack Advisory Council advises and monitors the implementation of the Lake Ridge Middle Continuous Improvement plan which includes the budgetary process and operational procedures as well as the academic, emotional, and social, growth of our students. Our first meeting will be October 26, 2022 through Zoom. If you are interested in participating, please email Ms. Merica at [email protected] by October 7th.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Daily announcements regarding sports, clubs, and events are read at dismissal over the intercom. We also post the announcements on the Student Canvas page. Parents can use their Canvas Observer account to also view those announcements. If you haven’t setup a Parent Canvas Observer account, instructions can be found on our website by clicking on the Parents icon at the top of the page. Then scroll down to the LRMS Canvas section.

Home Athletic Events:
All home athletic events start at 5:15 p.m. to ensure travel time and proper warm-ups for the away school and officials. Our ticket tables will not be opening and taking tickets until 5 p.m. You must have a ticket to gain entrance into the Athletic Event. Students that are staying after for the Athletic Events MUST go home and return before gaining entry into the event. If you are attending any Event, PWCS enacted a No-Bag policy for the events. This includes backpacks, purses, camera equipment bags, etc. Small wallet-sized clutch bags, clear diaper bags, and medically necessary bags are permitted. You will be asked to return your bag to the car before being sold a ticket. Thank you for your cooperation.

In PWCS, there is a strong message about Positive Sportsmanship between our StudentAthletes, Opponents, Coaches, Officials, Fans, and most importantly Parents. Our studentathletes are out here to compete in a manner that produces a positive impact on and off the field. Be that role model for our student-athletes by starting the positive sportsmanship in the stands.
