WOLF WEEKLY
October 18, 2026

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-

TOUCHBASE EVENT
We will be hosting a Touchbase event on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.  The event gives you an opportunity to speak with your child’s teacher(s).  You will get to spend about 3-5 minutes with each teacher, but it is not designed to be a parent/teacher conference.  There is no need to signup and parents will be seen on a first come first served basis.

END OF 1ST MARKING PERIOD
The last day of the 1st marking period is October 30, 2026.  The end of each grading period is an important time to review your student’s progress and attendance. Families are encouraged to check in on your student’s real-time grades through ParentVUE and to discuss their performance. Students and families are reminded about our late work policy and the importance of students taking advantage of retakes.

MICROWAVE USE IN THE CAFETERIA
To help keep our school microwaves safe and in good working condition, students will no longer be permitted to prepare popcorn in the microwaves. Unfortunately, we have experienced repeated issues with burned popcorn, overcooked food items, and damage to the equipment. We appreciate your support in reminding students to bring lunch items that can be heated safely and appropriately. This change will help ensure that our microwaves remain available and functional for all students.

SCHOOL CROSSING SAFETY
As more parents drive their children to and from school, we are seeing increased vehicle traffic and congestion around our school crossings. We ask everyone in our community to help us keep students, Crossing Guards, and motorists safe.

Please slow down, stay alert, and follow the directions of our Crossing Guards. The number one responsibility of a Crossing Guard is the safe passage of students. When students need to cross, our Crossing Guards must stop traffic as necessary to allow them to safely cross the roadway. Once the students are safely across, our guards make every reasonable effort to move traffic in all directions and help reduce the backup before exiting the roadway.

However, Crossing Guards are not traffic-control officers. Their primary responsibility is pedestrian safety.

We understand that waiting in school traffic can be frustrating, especially during busy arrival and dismissal times. We ask motorists to remain patient and never enter an intersection, proceed through a crossing, or make a turn until directed to do so by the Crossing Guard. Ignoring a Crossing Guard's direction because you are in a hurry can create a dangerous situation and could result in a collision or, worse, someone being seriously injured.

Please remember:

  • Obey posted speed limits, especially in school zones.
  • Stop when directed by a Crossing Guard and remain stopped until instructed to proceed.
    • Do not park in NO PARKING Zones.
  • Stay alert and watch for children entering the roadway.
  • Be patient. A few extra moments can make all the difference.
  • Never drive around or disregard a Crossing Guard who is actively controlling a school crossing.

Crossing Guards are out there every school day, in all types of weather, doing their very best to protect our children while helping traffic move as safely and efficiently as possible. We all share the same goal: getting every child across the street safely. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and commitment to keeping our school communities safe.

Reminder for Student-Athletes and Families
Student-athletes are reminded that they are responsible for bringing all equipment, clothing, shoes, and other items needed for practices and games with them to school.

Please plan ahead and double-check that all necessary sports items are packed before leaving for school. The front office is unable to accept parent drop-offs of athletic equipment or other sports-related items during the school day.

If a student forgets an item, parents/guardians will need to make arrangements to provide it directly to their student after the school day has ended.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping our student-athletes come prepared.

Monday will be an “A” day.
