WOLF WEEKLY
January 04, 2026

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-

We hope you had a restful, relaxing, and joyful Winter Break and are ready to come back for the final push of the last 3 weeks of the 2nd marking period and 1st semester.

SPRING PLAY AUDITIONS
Auditions for Frozen Jr. will be held on January 6th and 7th. Find information regarding requirements for auditions on the student canvas page under sports and clubs. Applications and permission slips are outside Mrs. Couchman's door in room 1102. Email Mrs. Couchman with questions, [email protected].

SCHOOL ISSUED DEVICES
As a reminder, each student has received an iPad that comes with a keyboard case. Please remind your child that drawing on the keyboard case, writing on it, placing stickers, or using name tags is NOT ALLOWED. Additionally, keyboard cases are not covered by warranty or insurance. If a replacement case is needed due to loss or damage, it must be purchased at school for $120.

Students are responsible for bringing their device to school every day. We will not provide loaner devices, and students are not allowed to bring chargers or cords for charging purposes. Students must manage their device's battery life at home. If a student forgets their device at home, they will be required to use pen and paper for class activities. Replacement for lost chargers can be purchased through the school for $20 exact change or check made out to Lake Ridge Middle School.

CONCERNING SOCIAL MEDIA TREND
We want to bring to your attention an increasing social media trend involving incidents of "pantsing" that are starting to show up in some of our schools. Pantsing is defined as forcibly removing or pulling down another individual's clothing without their consent. Pantsing is a serious violation of our Code of Behavior and may constitute “criminal sexual contact” under Title IX. “Criminal sexual contact” replaced “fondling” under Title IX and includes a much

broader range of unwelcome touching between students. Pantsing not only infringes on personal boundaries but also causes humiliation, distress, and potential harm to the targeted student with lasting negative impact. Our school division is committed to maintaining a safe and equitable environment for all students, and any incidents of pantsing will be subject to disciplinary action and may trigger Title IX investigations. We ask for your partnership in discussing the seriousness of this behavior with your children and reinforcing the importance of respecting others' privacy and dignity. Together, we can foster a culture of respect and safety for every student

OPPORTUNITY FOR 7TH GRADERS
Lake Ridge Middle School Counselors are looking for students interested in being nominated for the Early Identification Program at George Mason. The Early Identification Program (or EIP) serves as a free college preparatory program that provides support and access to educational resources for middle and high school students. This program is focused on creating a path to college for students who will be the first in their families to attend a 4-year college or university in the United States. EIP is a wonderful opportunity that requires a significant time commitment from both students and families to complete. Please read the attached document or visit the EIP Future Students webpage to determine if it is the right fit for your student and family.

If your student is a current 7th grader and you are interested in having the opportunity for them to be nominated to apply for this program, please fill out the form below by Monday, January 5th.

ATHLETICS

Boy's Basketball

Tuesday, January 6th @ Parkside - tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday 1/7

Thursday, January 8th vs. Beville - HOME

  • JV ~ 5:15 PM
  • Varsity ~ 6:30 pm

As we have finished the 1st Quarter, this is a reminder that any student attending after-school events must be Academically Eligible. If a student received more than 1 Failure in a class, they will not be allowed to attend an after-school event.

PWCS enacted a no-bag policy for all indoor athletic events at the middle school level. This is in alignment with the policy currently in place at all high schools. This includes backpacks, purses, camera equipment bags, etc. Small wallet-sized clutch bags, clear diaper bags, and medically necessary bags are permitted. These bags may be subject to search. This policy went into effect for indoor athletic events at all middle schools on Monday, January 10, 2022. Our school will have a plan in place to secure any student bookbags as needed during athletic events. We will not be responsible for securing bags from any attendees who are not students at our school. Signage will be posted to remind attendees prior to arriving at the ticket area. We thank you in advance for adhering to this policy and look forward to having you with us to cheer on our student-athletes.

Games ticket prices, CASH ONLY, are $3 for Adults, $1 for Students, Senior Citizens are Free. Please do not have bills larger than $10 to ensure change can be given to all paying customers.

Monday will be an “A” day.
