WOLF WEEKLY
June 8, 2025

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians- We have made it to the final week of the 24-25 school year.

BACKPACKS
As a reminder, students were instructed that they should no longer bring bags and backpacks to school for the remainder of the week. Any student who brings a bag or backpack will have it locked up in the Wolves Den for the day.

Any student who was issued a locker should take the time to make sure they've cleaned it out.

FUN DAY
Fun day is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10. This will be a day filled with laughter, games, and camaraderie. It’s a time for our students to unwind, celebrate their achievements, and create lasting memories.

Eligibility for attendance-

  1. Academic Standing: To participate in Fun Day, students must maintain academic eligibility. Specifically:
    • No student can have two or more F’s in their classes during the fourth quarter.
    • Consistent effort and commitment to learning are essential.
  1. Behavioral Expectations:
    • Students cannot have any major referrals resulting in out-of-school suspensions during the fourth quarter.
    • Additionally, they must avoid accumulating three or more total referrals leading to after-school detentions or Saturday school.
  1. Library Standing:
    • Students must be in good standing with the library. This means no outstanding fines or overdue books.

All students found ineligible were notified on Friday, June 6. Those students will remain in classrooms and not participate in the activities. All participation is at the discretion of the administrators.

LOST & FOUND
We are nearing the end of the school year and now is a great time for students to take a look through the lost & found to locate any items they are missing. Clothing, lunchbags, water bottles, etc… are in the cafeteria. Electronics, jewelry, and keys are in the front office.

CELL PHONE POLICY 25-26 SCHOOL YEAR
This year, Prince William County Public Schools took a bold and research-based step forward by adopting the new Cell Phone-Free Education Policy. Beginning in August 2025, all schools will implement a bell-to-bell policy that limits cell phone use during the instructional day. This decision, shaped by community input and a successful pilot across 33 schools, is rooted in a shared goal: creating classroom environments where students are fully present—mentally, emotionally, and socially. The student-created slogan, “Stop the scroll, take control,” reminds us that this policy is about empowerment, not restriction. It is about reclaiming focus, restoring meaningful human connection, and giving our students every opportunity to thrive. For more information, I invite you to review the PWCS FAQ page. We are grateful for your engagement and look forward to continuing this important work together

MEDICATION PICKUP
As the end of the school year approaches, we ask that parents/guardians begin preparations to come and collect all medications that are in the school clinic. You can come in, starting tomorrow, between 8am – 3pm to meet with the nurse to get your student’s medications. Any medications not picked up by 3:00pm on June 12, will be destroyed, as per the PWCS regulation. We cannot hold any medications for next year and students cannot transport the medications themselves.

MOVING OVER THE SUMMER?
If you are planning to move over the summer, please fill out a form using this link before May 30th. This allows our Registrar time to work on updating your data and getting student records sent to your new school. Contact Ms. Gouro at [email protected] if you have any questions.

ATHLETICS
Rising 6th and 7th Grade Families, Prince William County Public Schools will be moving to a new way of turning in your Athletic Physical and completing other components in order to try out for an Athletic Team. We are very excited to announce our partnership with Arbiter Sports which allows all families to turn in their Athletic Physicals completely online, "Tiny Scanner" or any other free application can be used to create a PDF with your phone. Families will create a Free Account, one time and one per family, to upload all documents and even select which Athletic Teams they would like to try out for! You are able to update your account throughout the school year if your student decides to try out for another team. Please head to our school website (lakeridgems.pwcs.edu/our_school/sports_information) for a step-by-step guide on how to create your account and begin the process.

Virginia High School League and the State of Virginia have recently passed a new law/bill that states all Athletic Physicals are valid for 14 months from the date of the physical. Due to this change, Virginia High School League has required an updated version of the Athletic Physical to be uploaded to Arbiter Sports, it will notify you as the 14-month mark approaches. This is the only version we are allowed to accept, please DO NOT use former versions of the Athletic Physical. The older versions have 4 pages to complete while the new version has 6 pages to complete. We understand this is a new process for everyone, please be proactive and make the free account now and immediately upload your Physical after completion this summer.

This is new to all participants, please be patient as we work through some of the preliminary issues!

In closing, we want to wish our current 8th graders good luck as they move onto high school. For our 6th and 7th graders, we hope you have a fantastic summer and we look forward to having you back in August.

Monday will be an “B” day.
