WOLF WEEKLY

March 31, 2024

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-

We hope you’ve enjoyed your time off and are ready to return to learning and finishing out the third quarter strong.

Autism Acceptance Spirit Week

April is Autism Acceptance month and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. We want to celebrate and show support with Autism Acceptance Spirit Week. Please help show acceptance for students on the Autism Spectrum by participating.

  • Magnificent Mind Monday: Wear a Funny Hat
  • Autism Acceptance Day Tuesday: Wear Red or Gold
  • Pokemon Wednesday: Wear your favorite Pokemon shirt and walk around with your favorite Pokemon!
  • Neurodiversity Thursday: Wear Tie-Dye or Rainbow
  • Sensory Friendly Friday: Wear your most comfortable sweats

Bus Evacuations

A bus evacuation drill is scheduled for Thursday, April 4. Upon their arrival to school, students who ride the bus will practice how to do an emergency evacuation. Please be prepared for it to take an extra few minutes getting off the bus and into the building.

End of the Quarter 3

The last day of the second marking period and first semester is April 8th. The end of each grading period is an important time to review your student’s progress and attendance. Families are encouraged to check in on your student’s real-time grades through ParentVUE and to discuss their performance. New quarter and semester classes will begin for students on April 11th as April 9th is a teacher workday and April 10th is a holiday.

Attention Families of Rising 9th Grade Students:

In the coming weeks, high school counseling departments are scheduled to come and meet with rising 9th grade students here at LRMS to complete the course request process. The LRMS Counseling Department will be visited with rising 9th Grade students this past week to talk about the course request process and the upcoming meetings with high school counselors. Course request scheduling forms can be found on the LRMS Counseling Canvas page and students and families are encouraged to review the scheduling forms as well as the High School Course Catalog. Weather can become a factor during the Spring Season with rain and heat. The only communication that will be shared is if tryouts are being canceled for the day, otherwise, plan for tryouts to be run as scheduled. We will make the final call for any cancellations between 1:30 pm and 2 pm. Thank you!

On June 1st, 2024 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Kelly Leadership Center, the Student Athletic and Activities Office is running a Sports Fair that offers information about all the Athletic Opportunities that are offered in Prince William County. Coaches and athletes will be offering information about the programs offered and providing information regarding sign-ups and Athletic Physicals/Concussion Training for the High Schools. (It is different compared to Middle School)

8th Grade Athletes: As we are approaching the Spring Season, multiple High School Sports are starting their Spring Off-Season Workouts/Conditioning, Athletes are NOT ALLOWED to participate in these workouts/conditioning sessions until June 8th, 2024. This is a VHSL Regulation and High School Activity Coordinators are aware/monitoring this.

Monday will be an “A” day.
