Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians- As a reminder we will not have school Monday, January 15th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
TESTING THIS WEEK
All students will be taking the Winter Virginia Growth Assessment tests this week. Students will take the Reading test on Tuesday, January 16, and will take the Mathematics test on Thursday, January 18. Please make sure your students are prepared for testing by having their laptops fully charged upon arrival to school.
ORCHESTRA CONCERT
We will have a 6th Grade Orchestra Concert on Wednesday, January 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the LRMS gym. Students are to report to the orchestra room at 6:15 p.m. and be dressed in their concert clothes. Cello and Bass students need to bring their instruments home for the concert. Parents will be allowed into the gym, for seating, at 6:50 p.m. The concert does not involve beginning 6th grade strings.
OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR AWARDS
We are excited to announce nominations for the PWCS Teacher and Support Employee of the Year are coming soon! These awards are an opportunity to recognize the hard work and commitment of our staff. Here are the awards you can vote for:
Teacher of the Year: PWCS will award an Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year. To be eligible for this award, teachers must have at least three full years of teaching experience.
Novice Teacher of the Year: PWCS will award an Elementary and Secondary Novice Teacher of the Year. To be eligible for this award, teachers must have less than three full years of teaching experience.
Principal of the Year: PWCS will award an Elementary and Secondary Principal of the Year. To be eligible for this award, principals must have at least three full years of administrative experience (assistant principal, office administrator, or above).
NEW! Support Employee of the Year: PWCS will award a Support Employee of the Year. To be eligible for this award, support employees must have successfully completed their 12-month probationary period in their current position and serve in a classified (non-exempt) role.

Girl's Basketball and Wrestling tryouts are slated to begin on January 22, 2024. This is a friendly reminder that you must have a 2023-2024 Athletic Physical and Concussion Training on file before being eligible to try out. You can complete the Concussion Training Online (https://www.pwcs.edu/academics___programs/student_activities/concussion_information); if you receive an error code stating that your Student ID is invalid, please email Mr. Larson ([email protected]) immediately to help alleviate the issue.
Girls interested in trying out for Basketball, please pick up an informational sheet from outside Mr. Moss in the Gym (JV) or Mr. Johnson in Room 1606 (Varsity).
Tuesday will be an “A” day.
