Grades 6 – 8 PWCS Summer Reading Program
Lake Ridge Middle School
The purpose of the PWCS Summer Reading Program is to encourage students to enjoy quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills. Student participation in the program is voluntary. Students who choose to participate in the program are required to complete a minimum number of readings (2) over the summer.
The following lists are suggestions for summer reading. Other books selected by the student with guidance from a parent/guardian and/or librarian are also acceptable.
Students in Grades 6 - 8 who choose to participate will submit a record of the books read to their Language Arts teachers, no later than the second week of school. The documentation should include the name of the author, the title of the book, and an explanation of the topic or plot of the book, and a parent or guardian statement that the student has completed the reading.
Students who participate in Prince William County Public Library's Summer Reading Program may submit the Public Library documentation instead. Students who choose the option of participating in the Prince William Public Library summer reading program should read the number of books designated for their grade level: Grades 6-12, read 2 books.
Students will receive an extra A (100) for each book completed, for a maximum total of two. Completion of the summer reading will be recorded for students by the end of the second week of school.
