Welcome to 7th Grade Counseling
My name is Ms. Carroll. If you need to contact me you can reach me at carrolK@pwcs.edu.
I am new to Lake Ridge Middle this year and I couldn't be more excited to be here! I am coming from Morehead City, North Carolina where I was also a middle school counselor. I am excited to get to know your 7th grade students and begin working with them. I will update this page over the course of the year so check back periodically to see what's new in 7th grade.

Academic and Career Plans (ACP)
Seventh grade students at LRMS are beginning to create their ACPs that will follow them through high school. These plans ask students to identity a career goal and what their plans are for after high school. Students also put in their current class schedule as well as the classes they are planning to take next year as 8th graders. These plans are completely electronic and once your student has completed this plan in class with me they will need you to sign it electronically. Below is the link for your convenience, thank you for you help in completing this state requirement.

Signs of Suicide Lesson (DECEMBER)
This lesson focuses on teaching students how to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression and suicide. Students will learn how to use the ACT (Acknowledge, Care, Tell) technique to help a friend who may be going through a difficult time and the importance of getting these individuals help from a trusted adult.
Pause Before You Post Lesson (OCTOBER)
This lesson focuses on responsible online behavior and use of social media. Students will explore what types of social media they are currently using as well as potential risks and consequences for inappropriate use. Talk with your child at home about social media and the role it is playing in their lives and friendships.
