WOLF WEEKLY
March 23, 2025

Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-

END OF 3RD MARKING PERIOD
The last day of the third marking period is March 27, 2025.  The end of each grading period is an important time to review your student’s progress and attendance. Families are encouraged to check in on your student’s real-time grades through ParentVUE and to discuss their performance. Students and families are reminded about our late work policy and the importance of students taking advantage of retakes. For 6th and 7th grade students, new quarter classes will begin for students on April 1, 2025.

RISING 9th GRADE COURSE REQUESTS
Rising 9th Grade students and families are encouraged to review the 25-26 Rising 9th Grade Course Request and Scheduling Module posted on the LRMS Counseling Canvas page prior to meeting with a high school counselor. Students can view scheduling forms from different high schools and review the PWCS High School Course Catalog. Until specialty program applications have been finalized, students will schedule with their zoned high school. If needed, we will offer additional scheduling opportunities for students that will be transfer students for a specialty program.  We have confirmed scheduling days with Woodbridge, Colgan, and Hylton. We are still working with the other high schools as we are waiting for specialty program information to be finalized.

End of Year Requirements for Attendance to Activities
To attend the FUN DAY and 8th Grade Dance, students must meet the following criteria starting the 4th Marking Period (April 1):

  1. Library Books and Fines:
    • All library books must be returned.
    • No outstanding fines.
  2. Disciplinary Referrals:
    • Any student receiving a referral that receives exclusionary discipline (Out of School Suspension) will lose the privilege to attend.
    • Students with 3 referrals resulting in 1-hour after-school detention to Saturday school (non-exclusionary discipline) will not be able to attend unless they complete 1 hour of community service* with a staff member.  The staff member must sign off on the completed time. This is a one-time opportunity. If that student receives a 4th referral, that results in non-exclusionary discipline they will not be allowed to attend.

These requirements ensure that students are responsible and maintain good behavior leading up to these events.

*The deadline for community service prior to the 8th grade Dance is May 12, 2025.

The deadline to complete community service for Fun Day is June 2, 2025.

Students are responsible for picking up a Community Service Form and scheduling their own Community Service.  Forms are available in the front office. Community Service must be performed at LRMS with a staff member.

ATHLETICS
Our Spring Season (Girls' Soccer, Softball, Boys' Track, and Baseball) begin on Monday, March 24th from 3-5 pm. If you are interested in trying out you will need to have a 2024-2025 PWCS Middle School Athletic Physical, can be found on our website, and have completed the Concussion Training through ParentVue. Please make sure that you are signing and submitting the Concussion Training after completing it, you should receive a notification that it is completed.

If you have turned in an Athletic Physical already this school year or went through a tryout, then you will not need to turn another one or recomplete the Concussion Training as it is good for the entire 2024-2025 school year.

If you have any questions about paperwork or tryout information reach out to Mr. Larson at [email protected], please do not reach out to the coaches. Thank you for your consideration!

There will be no school on Friday, March 28th due to a teacher work day.

Monday will be a B day.
