IMPACT AID SURVEY
The Impact Aid survey is open and available to complete in ParentVUE. Please complete the survey by November 30, 2024.
Why is Impact Aid important?
Most public school districts are funded in large part by local revenue. Federal properties in Prince William County are tax exempt, which decreases the amount of revenue available to school districts. Impact Aid is the way “Uncle Sam” pays its taxes – supporting the education of students in Prince William County.
How do school districts use Impact Aid funds?
The funds can be used to support general education needs such as instructional materials, technology, and social-emotional support to name a few.
GRATITUESDAYS IN NOVEMBER
On Tuesdays in November we will be celebrating GratiTuesday! During lunches, the Counseling Department will offer an activity that helps students practice gratitude. What is gratitude? Gratitude is the feeling of thankfulness and appreciation for the good things in life, and expressing gratitude can have many benefits.
- Positive emotions: Gratitude can improve your mood, boost your happiness, and help you feel less stressed and depressed.
- Better relationships: When you're grateful for someone's kindness, you may be more likely to be kind in return.
- Better decision making: Gratitude can help you learn and make smart decisions.
- Refocusing: Gratitude helps you focus on what you have instead of what you lack.
- Mental health: Gratitude can have a positive effect on your mental health
For the final Gratituesday, students will have an opportunity, on Monday, to fill out a form to recognize any teacher(s).
HOLIDAY SUPPORT PROGRAM
Mrs. Sweeney, LRMS School Social Worker, is asking for the community's help this year as we support some of our families in need during the holidays. If you would like to sponsor a child(ren)/family in need, please review the Sign-Up Genius link below. Each number represents a child/family and the items listed for each child are suggestions based on a wish list provided by the parents. Gifts are due to Mrs. Sweeney by Friday, December 13th to ensure delivery on-time before winter break. Gifts should come wrapped and labeled with the sponsor's name and gift ID (i.e., P. Sweeney, 1-A) and can be dropped off in the front office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sweeney directly at [email protected] or
571-343-5748. Thank you for participating in the Season of Giving and making this a magical holiday for our students.
