WOLF WEEKLY
September 10, 2023
Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-
September 11th is recognized each year as Patriot Day, a National Day of Service and Rememberance, to honor the lives lost at the World Trade Center, on Flight 93, and at the Pentagon. Patriot Day also honors the first responders, service members, and civil servants who were integral in rescue and recovery efforts. Lake Ridge Middle School encourages students and staff to wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE in recognition of Patriot Day on Monday.

ATTENDANCE
September is Attendance Awareness Month! You can find helpful attendance resources here.
Notify us when your child is absent The school must receive verified contact from a parent/guardian within five school days for an absence to be counted as excused. Verified contact can come in the form of a note delivered to the main office or one of the options below. A note must contain the student’s name, date(s) of absence, detailed reason for absence and have a parent/guardian signature. Other options:
- In ParentVue, you can click ‘Report Absence’ located beside your child’s name.
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Failure to provide enough information or vague wording such as “out of town” or “family emergency” will result in the absence being unexcused.
Reason for Absence must be in accordance with PWCS Attendance Regulation 724-1 and clearly stated in the attendance letter. Excused absences are defined as: illness or death of a family member; medical and dental appointments; religious observances; parental military leave, emergency conditions in the home; and reasons of extenuating circumstances as determined by the principal. All other absences will be considered unexcused. From Reg. 724-1: Absences for family trips will not be excused unless accompanied by extraordinary circumstances.
EARLY DISMISSAL
Early dismissal of students ends promptly at 2:30 p.m. each afternoon. If you need to pull your student out early, please make sure you are here before then. Any parent arriving after 2:30 p.m. will be asked to wait until dismissal at 2:50 p.m. You do not need to notify us ahead of time that you are picking your student up early.

The Food and Nutrition Department is hosting two divisionwide contests in September! The winners of the contests will be announced during National School Lunch Week (October 10-13).

The winning T-Shirt design will be turned into a shirt that will be worn by all PWCS Food and Nutrition Department employees this school year. Students who participate in the Minecraft Education Build Challenge will have the chance to participate in a video chat with one of the Directors of Minecraft Education and have their design be featured at the PWCS Food and Nutrition Department’s Food Show at Colgan High School on October 26th! Please contact the School Food Service Manager, Aurora Garvin at [email protected] to get the rules and guidelines for both contests. Please see the attached flyers. [search t-shirt & Minecraft]
