Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-  We’d like to thank our students and parents for making it through the first week.  We appreciate your patience as we work through some of the first week glitches.  As a reminder, our office opens at 7:30 a.m.  There are no staff available to answer the phones beforehand.  Students will be let into the building at 7:40 a.m.

We will be conducting our first lockdown drill Monday morning.  It is only a drill.

ATTENDANCE

Lake Ridge Middle School does not have a designated phone line for attendance.  Absences must be submitted in writing.  Parents can report same day and future absences in ParentVue by clicking the blue Report Absence button.  This is for reporting full-day absences only.  You can send an email to [email protected] to report ALL absences including: full day; early dismissal; late arrival; and previous days absences.  Please do not call ahead to notify us of an early dismissal.  We will call your student to the office upon your arrival and after we’ve verified you are on the emergency pickup list.

EARLY DISMISSAL

Early dismissal of students ends promptly at 2:30 p.m. each afternoon.  If you need to pull your student out early, please make sure you are here before then.  Any parent arriving after 2:30 p.m. will be asked to wait until dismissal at 2:50 p.m. 

BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

KISS & RIDE LINE

As we continue to work on efficiency and safety, it’s important to remind you of the proper way to enter/exit from the kiss & ride line in the mornings and afternoons.  If you are driving your student(s) to school, please enter in from the 2nd entrance to the school which is located by the football field. Once you pull in, and come to a complete stop, please drop your student off; having them walk a little bit is a great way to get the blood flowing and their mind awake before school. By doing this, you help to move the traffic in and out of the school in a quick and efficient manner. Do not wait to pull up to the front door as it causes traffic to be backed up both ways on Mohican Rd. Parents are not permitted to drop students off in the large upper parking lot. The entrance next to the electronic marquee is for buses and staff only. As always, please allow extra time and drive cautiously in the parking lot. Please see the attached map for the flow of the kiss & ride line.  At dismissal, students should be waiting between the cones and the stop sign.

BUSES

If you have questions/issues with your bus, please contact Transportation at 571-374-6591. They are more equipped, than our front office, to answer specific questions regarding bus locations and delays.  Downloading the Here Comes the Bus app is also highly recommended.  Follow this link for instructions to setup your account. POP UP ONLINE STORE

The Lake Ridge Middle School Online store is currently open.  Please click the following link to order any spirit wear you may want.  The store closes on August 31.

DRAMA CLUB INTEREST

drama Club will have an interest meeting on Thursday, August 31 from 3-3:30 p.m.  If you plan to stay, please make sure to arrange transportation home.  Please see the attached Drama application.

SCHOOL DEVICE INSURANCE

PWCS will once again be using Securranty for families who wish to purchase insurance for their student(s) assigned devices.  This is highly recommended to avoid costly repairs, or replacements, for damages Please see our website for information. 

FALL ATHLETICS

Fall tryouts for Boys Soccer, Football, Girls Track, Volleyball, and Cheerleading will begin on Monday, August 28^th after school from 3:15 - 5:15.  Students will need to make sure they bring/wear proper athletic attire for their sport (athletic shorts, sneakers/cleats, and an appropriate shirt).  They will have an opportunity to change in the locker room before tryouts begin. Coaches will be checking an updated Eligibility List at the beginning of practice to see if the updated Athletic Physical and Concussion Training have been completed before trying out.  If they are missing any part, they will not be able to try out until all paperwork has been submitted.

To ensure a fair and equitable tryout for all athletes, all tryouts and practices are closed to the public per Prince William County Public Schools policy.  Please respect all athletes participating in that sport as some athletes might be nervous during the tryout process. Last, but not least, there is no school on Friday September 1^st or Monday September 4^th for the Labor Day holiday.
