WOLF WEEKLY
June 4, 2023
Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-
LAPTOP COLLECTION
We will be collecting all LRMS devices June 7-9. Please prepare for this by removing all personal stickers. Students will need to turn in their laptop, charger, and case (remove everything from the pocket). Please wipe down the device using a dry cloth and neatly wrap the charger cord using the Velcro. Students attending summer school will have their device checked for damage and then returned to them.
MEDICATION PICKUP
All medications must be picked up from the school clinic by 11:30 am on June 15. Medications not picked up will be discarded. No medications are held in the school clinics over the summer. For those that are interested in picking up meds early, please come on any school day between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm. Please contact Mrs. Camacho with any questions. Medications cannot be transported by students. Parents must pick them up.
REMINDER FOR THE PARTICIPATION IN FUN DAY ACTIVITIES
In order to participate, you need to be academically eligible. This means that a student cannot have 2 or more F's in their classes. All work should be submitted by June 7th at 3 pm in order to determine FUN Day eligibility. In addition, a student cannot have any major referral resulting in an out of school suspension during the 4th Quarter. They also cannot have 3 or more total referrals resulting in any after school detention or Saturday school during the 4th Quarter. Lastly, students must be in good standing with the library by having no outstanding fines or overdue books. All participation is at the discretion of the administrators. Ineligible students and families will be notified on Friday, June 9th through email.
MOVING OVER THE SUMMER?
If you are planning to move over the summer, we are asking that you fill out the attached form and return it to Mrs. Gouro no later than June 13th. This allows her time to work on updating your data and getting student records sent to your new school.
FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION
Family Life Education (FLE) will be taught at LRMS through Science classes in 6th and 7th grade, and through PE in 8th grade this week. If you wish to review the material your student will be learning or to opt them out, you can reach out to your student’s Science teacher (6/7 grades) or PE teacher (8th grade). Any other questions about FLE can be directed to Mr. McLaughlin at [email protected]
SUMMER READING ACTIVITIES
The Chinn Park Library is planning some Summertime activities. Please see the attached flyers for more information and to sign up.
ATHLETICS
Rising 6th and 7th Graders: As you begin preparation for summer vacation, here are a few reminders for next school year:
You will need an updated/completed Athletic Physical for next school year. The 2022/2023 school year's Athletic Physical is now invalid and will permanently be filed. The updated Athletic Physical form is available on our school website for you to print and bring to your doctor. Parents reminder that you are required to fill out pages 1, 2, and 4 on the Athletic Physical form. All Physicals must be completed past May 31st.
The doctor will complete page 3 on the Athletic Physical at the visit. If you are a member of Kaiser Permanente, the "Summary" file will need to be attached to the Athletic Physical as it replaces ONLY page 3.
Concussion Training has closed for the summer and will officially reopen on July 17th. Any concussion training completed before that date will not be accepted.
Future High School Athletes - Please be reminded that you will now be required to complete the VHSL Athletic Physical in order to participate in athletics.
We will send an update in July with further information! Have an amazing summer!
Monday will be a "B" Day.
