WOLF WEEKLY
April 16, 2023
Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians-
We would like to remind you that parents should not be dropping students off in the upper staff parking lot in the mornings. The entrance nearest the marquee sign is only to be used by staff coming in and parents/busses going out to Mohican. We have had vehicle collisions because of parents stopping in the lot to let students out while teachers are coming in to park.
In addition, if you are dropping your student off in the car line, please have them exit the car as soon as you come to a stop. This will help keep the line moving efficiently and allow for the students to enter the building quicker.
EARLY DISMISSALS
As a reminder, the front office stops early dismissal at 2:30 p.m. each afternoon. Please do not come in the office after 2:30 and ask for a student to be released, unless you've been called by a staff member to pick your student up. If your student has an appointment in the afternoon, please plan the time of their pickup accordingly.
MINI SPIRIT WEEK
- Wednesday – Wear purple in support of Month of the Military Child
- Thursday – Wear colors or clothing that show appreciation and support for Earth Day and represent loving the Earth.
DRESS CODE
We know as the weather warms up, students are going to push their limits on their clothing or lack of clothing! Here is what the code of behavior states! Please review this with your students.
Student Dress and Grooming - Students are urged to dress for success each school day. Their overall appearance, while on school grounds or virtually, should be based on the health and safety of an inclusive school community. It is understood that student dress may reflect outdoor weather conditions throughout the school year, however, students should refrain from wearing any item of clothing which may cause a distraction or disruption to the educational process or compromise the physical and emotional health and safety of the student or others. Students whose appearance disrupts instruction may be asked to change clothing.
Prohibited items of clothing include:
Clothing items which:
- reveal bare skin to the extent that they distract or may foreseeably distract other students or staff;
- reveal or expose undergarments;
- fit in a manner as to reveal or expose undergarments;
- contain vulgar, discriminatory, lewd patently offensive or obscene language or images;
- contain threats or gang symbols;
- promotes the use of weapons and violence, or the use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs, and/or associated paraphernalia;
- cause or may foreseeably cause a disruption to the learning environment; and
- accessories which could be regarded as or used as a weapon.
REQUIREMENTS FOR UPCOMING SPRING ACTIVITIES
With the 4th Marking Period having begun, we again wanted to send out an early notice about the academic & behavior requirements for eligibility to participate in the 8th Grade Dance and/or Fun Day. In order to participate, you need to be academically eligible for the 3rd Marking Period. This means that a student cannot have 2 or more F's in their classes. In addition, a student cannot have any major referral resulting in an out of school suspension. They also cannot have 3 or more total referrals resulting in any after school detention or Saturday school. Lastly, students must be in good standing with the library by having no outstanding fines or overdue books. All participation is at the discretion of the administrators.

ATHLETICS
Softball/Soccer:
- Wednesday, April 19 vs. Manassas Park – HOME
Boy’s Track:
- Thursday, April 20 @ Manassas Park – AWAY
Baseball:
- Thursday, April 20 vs. Manassas Park – HOME
We are asking all Spring Athletes to come to school with their clothes, equipment, and water for practice at the beginning of the day. Athletes can ask a teacher to "house" their equipment in their classroom until the end of the day or request a locker to put their stuff in during the day. We are asking parents to not bring in the athlete's equipment throughout the day or drop it off right before practice as it is their responsibility to come prepared for practice and it avoids chaos in the front office.
ALL practices are closed to outside community members. This gives the most opportunity for our athletes to compete without becoming anxious or stressed. Coaches will be asking spectators to leave during this time to ensure they get a fair opportunity for all athletes.
Thank you for understanding and your continued support of our Athletic Department. Any questions related to athletics can be directed to Mr. Larson at [email protected]
TICKETS
To make entry into our events more effective and efficient, we are asking that you bring exact change or provide bills less than, or equal to, the amount of $10. When we receive $20 or even $50 bills, it creates an issue with providing the right amount of change for everyone throughout the night and holds up our line when we need to create more change throughout the night. Adult tickets are $3 and student tickets are $1, if you have a 3rd Quarter VISA, you are free. Thank you for your consideration.
Monday will be an "A" Day.
