WOLF WEEKLY
April 9, 2023
Good evening Lake Ridge Middle School parents/guardians - we hope that you've enjoyed the week off and are ready to get started with the 4th Quarter.
We would like to remind you that parents should not be dropping off students in the upper staff parking lot in the mornings. The entrance nearest the marquee sign is only to be used by staff coming in and busses exiting out to Mohican. We have had vehicle collisions because of parents stopping in the lot to let students out while teachers are trying to come in and park.
In addition, if you are dropping your students off in the car line, please have them ready to exit the car as soon as you come to a stop. This will help the line moving efficiently and allow for the students to enter the building quicker.
UPCOMING TOUCHBASE EVENT
We will have our second TouchBase Conferences on Monday, April 10th from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the school. Each parent will have 3-5 minutes to talk to their student's teachers. These will be first come, first served. These conferences will be quick and cover general information about student's grades, work habits, and conduct. These are not intended to be in-depth teacher conferences. If you need a more in-depth conference, you'll need to email your student's teacher(s) and schedule a time for that.
HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT-BEARING COURSES EXPUNGEMENT
This attached letter from the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning explains the opportunity to reduce the negative impact of a course attempted at the middle school level from a student's high school transcripts. It is intended for parents of all eigth-grade students and any other students taking a high school credit-bearing course at the middle school level.
If you wish to have a grade expunged for a high school credit-bearing course taken in middle school, you must complete the fillable "Request to Expunge High School Courses Taken in Middle School Form" attached within this newsletter.

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK, MAY 1-5
Teacher and staff appreciation week is May 1-5! Let's show the staff at LRMS how much we appreciate their hard work. We'll be planning special treats for them for the entire week, so we need your help. You can make donations here. If you would like to volunteer to assist with activities for the week, please email us at [email protected]
BINGO NIGHT
We've scheduled the LRMS PTO Bingo Night for Friday, May 19th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required and parents/guardians must submit an electronic permission slip. You can pre-purchase food and bingo cards and fill out the permission slip here.
ATHLETICS
We are asking all Spring Athletes to come to school with their clothes, equipment, and water for practice at the beginning of each day. Athletes can ask a teacher to "house" their equipment in their classroom until the end of the day or request a locker to put their stuff in during the day. We are asking parents not to bring in the athlete's equipment throughout the day or drop it off right before practice as it is their responsibility to come prepared for practice and it avoids chaos in the already busy front office.
All practices are closed to outside community members. This gives the most opportunity for the athletes to compete without becoming anxious or stressed. Coaches will be asking spectators to leave during this time to ensure they get a fair opportunity for all athletes.
The track and sports fields are also closed to students for after-school use. It is reserved for sports practices and students need to go home after school rather than hang out on the fields. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Athletic Director, Mr. Larson, at [email protected]
FIELD HOCKEY CLUB
The Field Hockey Club will begin on Wednesday, April 12th from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. This will be an informational meeting in Room 1404 followed by a quick practice session where we will work on stick skills. ALL participants must have a completed sports physical and concussion training on file to participate. All information can be found at this signup link. Contact Ms. Tallman at [email protected] with any questions.
EARLY DISMISSALS
As a reminder, the front office stops early dismissal at 2:30 p.m. each afternoon. Please do not come in the office after 2:30 and ask for a student to be released, unless you've been called by a staff member to pick your student up. If your student has an appointment in the afternoon, please plan the time of their pickup accordingly.
Tuesday is an "A" Day.
