Hello Lake Ridge Middle School Parents/Guardians –
REMINDER ABOUT DOGS
Parents, we would like to make you aware that dogs are not allowed in school buildings unless they are a service animal. If you come to school with your dog, you will need to leave them in the car.
KINDNESS CHALLENGE WEEK
We will be having a Kindness Challenge this week. Please see below for each day.
- Monday – Wear Blue: Write 10 positive affirmations and give 5 to students and 5 to adults in the building to help start off the week in a positive way.
- Tuesday – Wear Green: Let’s send some kind words to people at the Kelly Leadership Building or the Superintendent. Turn the positive messages into your Advisory teachers.
- Wednesday – Wear Orange: Think about the positive influences, things and experiences around you. Show some Gratitude by letting them know how they have influenced you.
- Thursday – Wear Yellow: Learn about a different culture to show that we are all in this school together. Make an information card with the facts that you learned and share them with someone at home.
- Friday – Wear Purple: Spread kindness to someone who has made a difference in your life by giving them a flower, piece of candy, coffee or something small they’d enjoy.

ATHLETICS
Boys Basketball:
Monday, January 23rd vs. Benton – HOME
Our Girl's Basketball and Wrestling Season is slated, to begin with, tryouts starting on Wednesday, January 25th from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. A few notes/reminders before we begin:
1 - You need to have a 2022-2023 Athletic Physical and Concussion Training on file with the Athletic Director, Mr. Larson. When filling out the PWCS Athletic Physical Form, PARENTS fill out and sign pages 1,2, AND 4. The doctor/physician will fill out page 3 after the evaluation (if you are a member of Kaiser Permanente they will give you a printout for Page 3, this does NOT exclude parents from filling out pages 1,2, and 4)
2 - Concussion Training SHOULD be completed online, unless you attended the in-person session on January 17th. After completing the Online Concussion Training, you HAVE to print AND sign the form in order to receive credit for completing the course.
3 - If a student failed more than 1 class during Quarter 1 they are Academically Ineligible to try out for Girl's Basketball and Wrestling. This also means that students are unable to attend Athletic Events after school, we will be checking as students enter the event.
NO-BAG POLICY FOR ALL INDOOR EVENTS PWCS enacted a no-bag policy for all indoor events (athletics, music concerts, plays, etc.) at the middle school level. This is in alignment with the policy currently in place at all high schools. This includes backpacks, purses, camera equipment bags, etc. Small wallet-sized clutch bags, clear diaper bags, and medically necessary bags are permitted. These bags may be subject to search. This policy went into effect for indoor events at all middle schools on Monday, January 10, 2022. Our school will have a plan in place to secure any bookbags, for participating students, as needed during events. We will not be responsible for securing bags from any attendees. You will be asked to leave your bag in your car or take it home. Signage will be posted to remind attendees prior to arriving at the ticket area. We thank you in advance for adhering to this policy and look forward to having you with us to cheer on our students.
Monday is an “A” day.
