Lake Ridge Middle School World Language Specialty Program

The World Language Specialty Program offers high-school Level I and Level II courses in French, German, and Spanish.  Courses are intended for beginners of the language.  The Level I course is completed over two years in 6th and 7th grades.  Successful program participants continue to Level II in 8th grade.  Students earn a total of two high-school credits in World Language upon completion of the courses in middle school.

Work and study habits, an interest in the language, and previous academic achievement in Language Arts are the important predictors of success.  Generally, students who enroll in the World Language Specialty Program are placed into an Extended (accelerated) Language Arts class.  Students take one period of French, German, or Spanish every day.  The courses are for high-school credit and require rigorous daily preparation.
