They are among only 556 in the nation to earn this recognition by the W!se Foundation, a national educational non-profit dedicated to programs that develop financial literacy and readiness for college and careers.

The Gold Star Teachers are Diana Bohurslov from Battlefield High School; Claudia Swint and Kendra Wilkins from Forest Park High; Jill Cahill, Robin Ethridge, and Sharon Hardy from Patriot High; and Jesse DeStacy and Michele Karnbach from Woodbridge High.

"We are truly proud of our students' accomplishments and equally proud of our teachers,” said Woodbridge High School Principal Heather Abney. “They are doing an outstanding job providing our students vital knowledge about their personal finances."

Students are required to pass an economics and personal finance course to graduate. The W!se Financial Literacy Certification test is a national standardized test students take at the end of a course on personal finance.

In Prince William County Public Schools, we are teaching students to be good managers of their money, better preparing them for the future. That’s Positively PWCS!
