Hallo!  I am Frau Butler and am happy to be back at Woodbridge Senior High School for my 18th year.  I have also taught in public and private schools in Pennsylvania and Maryland and Berlitz Language Center in Washington DC.  As the only German teacher, I teach all levels (1-4), sponsor German Club and German Honor Society and oversee our school's participation in a Prince William County Exchange Program with our sister school in Dorfen, Bavaria.  The exchange is a wonderful opportunity for our students to travel to Germany for six weeks and host students from Germany as well.  The entire school population benefits from encounters with the visiting exchange students, who actually enroll in WSHS for their six week stay.  German students may also attend conference weekends for the Virginia Organization of German Students (VOGS) which are full of enrichment opportunities.  Woodbridge Senior High School students have been honored as Outstanding Students of German in the DMV by the American Goethe Society of Washington DC and chosen to attend the prestigious Virginia Governor's School German Academy.

Information including assignments concerning German classes will be posted on Google Classroom for the 2019-2020 school year and I can be reached by phone (703- 497-8000) or email: butlercj@pwcs.edu.  Please contact me if you have any questions concerning German classes or any of the many activities associated with the German program.

Last year German 1 was introduced to eighth graders at Lake Ridge Middle School and I am excited to teach a class at Lake Ridge Middle School again this school year.  I look forward to introducing German 1 students to German language and culture and helping the upper level students expand their existing knowledge.  I consider it a privilege to teach students year after year and see them grow as people and progress in language studies.
